The production of Sherlock Holmes 3 is still some way off, and there have been very little details on a possible Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law reunion.
Dexter Fletcher, who succeeded Guy Ritchie as director in July 2019, stated in June 2022 that he believed the threequel movie “will get made”. Just never did he say when.
“Unfortunately, I don’t know when that will happen, but I think it should. It’s wonderful. I believe it has to do with the proper individuals being present at the appropriate time and location. I believe that is it, he continued.
The only other information is a little nugget that Guy Ritchie revealed in a February 2023 interview with Collider.
Ritchie was questioned if the film would ever be created; he would probably serve as a producer on the third film as the director’s seat is already taken. “Well, honestly, I left this up to Robert [Downey Jr.],” he said in response. Robert therefore desired to oversee this.
He is in command of the screenplay and of everything since the ball is in his court. I have pulled away from it until it is appropriate for me to get engaged.
Sherlock Holmes 3: Is it Still Happening?
The Sherlock Holmes 3 release date is unknown as of the end of June 2023, but we do know that the movie is in development and that Robert Downy Jr. recently stated that the movie was a priority for him.

Thus, we assume that when the third Sherlock Holmes film picks up where the second left off, Watson will believe the legendary investigator is no longer alive.
Watson will probably then find out that the rumours of Sherlock’s death were untrue, and the two will resume pursuing criminals.
But it’s hard to predict what crime they’ll be solving in the detective film. Even that is just a guess, but if we were to guess, we’d say they’ll pick up on the recurring theme of the bad guys attempting to spark World War One.
